My message to Grecians - Uri
SPOONBENDER Uri Geller has been credited with a starring role
in the victory that transformed Exeter City's season last night.
The internationallyacclaimed psychic forecast an Exeter win as
Peter Fox's strugglers were trailing 1-0 to Division 3 highfliers
Carlisle.
Geller whose teenage son Daniel is a Grecians fan phoned City
chairman Ivor Doble in the St James's Park boardroom at halftime.
"He was at home in Reading and knew we were 1-0 down,"
said Doble. "But he insisted that we would go on to win the
game 2-1.
"Uri urged me to just 'think positive thoughts' and asked
me to go into the dressing room and tell the players to do the
same. It appeared to work!"
This morning Geller, speaking from his Reading home, said: "I
do believe that the power of the mind can stretch over long distances."
"We were at the Reading v Manchester City game and Daniel
came up to me very upset at halftime to say Exeter were losing."
"I rang Ivor on my mobile and told him to tell the players
to think "score, score" and they did.
"At the end of the day the victory is down to the players.
It is very hard to win from 1-0 down. But they had the belief in
themselves to do it."
