City casts spell over Uri's son
by JAMES CORNISH
LOWLY Exeter City has made it into the pages of celebrity gossip
magazine OK!
A few pages on from the latest issue's scoop spread on the new
baby born to Michael Jackson and his wife, a city shirt stares
out from a feature on spoonbending psychic Uri Geller.
It is proudly worn by Uri's son, Daniel, who was with his family
at the St James's Park clash with Torquay United on Saturday.
They travelled down from the mansion at Thameside, which looks
so opulent in the magazine photographs.
OK made no mention of Daniel's love affair with the Grecians,
but the Echo can reveal he fell in love with the team last summer.
Strange
"It's very strange, but there is no real explanation why
I support them," he told the Echo while en route to St James'
Park.
"My dad thinks it might be because I lived a previous life
in Exeter.
"It happened all of a sudden, when I saw their name on television.
"It made a really big connection and I have been hooked ever
since."
The Grecians' status at the wrong end of Nationwide Division Three
doesn't put Daniel off. He has no time for top teams like Manchester
United and Liverpool.
He said: "I just feel at home with Exeter City. The fans
and club always make us really welcome."
The rest of the Geller family support Reading and Daniel's football
shirt is rarely recognised as he parades it round that town.
"I usually have to explain to people to people what team
it is, " he said.
"When Exeter are playing I drape the shirt over our crystal
ball and it seems to help."
SPELLBOUND: Uri's son Daniel, proudly wears his city shirt in
the latest edition of OK! magazine. Daniel, 15, is pictured with
his mother and father Uri and Hannah, and his 14-year-old sister
Natalie.
