Pit
Bull (Refer
to story in Autocar above) Autosport November

was wandering around Tesco the other day (the AUTOSPORT canteen having run out
of it's usual brand of quality comestibles) when he spied a book on Mindpower.
Closer examination showed that there was a chapter about Formula 1. Apparently,
Uri Geller was in the Tyrell pits a few years back, when he bent a chrome spanner
before the eyes of an astonished crew, allegedly utilising sheer force of mind.
The pit boys
put the mutilated spanner in a vice, but try as they might, they could not bend
it back again. As a party trick, it is even more undetectable than traction control.
However, most people in this office claim this was untrue. If you were there to
witness this supernatural act, let us know, either by email, fax, letter or telepathy.

reader hs written in the following : "It has just been pointed out to me
that you're after the members of the Tyrell team that saw the famous Uri Geller
spanner bending at Silverstone 1998. I was about one metre away from Uri when
he bent the spanner. The spanner came straight from one of the mechanic's cabinets
and Uri had no way of having touched or even seen the spanner before he made it
'droop' over to one side. "He
was invited to the race by Ricardo Rosset, but unfortunately for us, Uri was unable
to work any mystic wonders for him that day, or come to think of it, any other
race that year." Back |
